CBD vs. THC

CBD vs. THC

There is currently a lot of hype around CBD. CBD is literally everywhere, even in your sex toys. People are throwing CBD-themed baby showers, people are getting CBD facials, restaurants are infusing meals and drinks with CBD. But what effect does CBD really have, though?

CBD, which is short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the cannabis plant. It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils and edibles to provide some relaxation and calmness. Unlike its cousin tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it's not psychoactive. Many cannabidiol exists, such as THCV, CBC, CBG, but aren’t as effective for medicinal therapy. THC and CBD make up to be 90% of the total cannabinoid content studied in the marijuana plant. CBD is said to decrease anxiety, lower inflammation, improve sleep, and reduces pain.

THC is the main psychoactive component of the cannabis plant and is the primary agent responsible for getting you ‘high’. Naturally, THC causes relaxation, fatigue, hunger, and reduced aggression. Medical research shows that it is effectively used to treat side effects of Chemo, HIV/AIDS, spinal injury, chronic pain, inflammation, digestive health, and MS.

I’ve also read that CBD is considered better for treating inflammation and neuropathic pain, while THC is great for cramp-related pain and spasticity.

CBD does nothing for my pain. I’m currently using CBD Oil Tincture Drops 30ml/750mg and it does provide a slight, overall, relaxation but it’s not potent enough to help with my chronic pain. This is how THC ended up becoming my best friend. Mary is the only one that takes my pain away completely for more than a few hours. She is my holy grail. I do plan to try CBD oil with higher milligrams and other CBD products because I still need relief during the day. Unfortunately, Mary is not legal in NY yet…
